Personification

Personification is when you give human qualities to something that isn't human—like objects, animals, or nature. It makes writing more vivid and engaging.

🛑 Without personification (boring 😴):

The wind was strong.

🌪 With personification (exciting! 😱):

The wind howled through the trees, whispering secrets in the night.

🔹 What changed?

  • The wind can’t actually howl or whisper, but giving it these human actions makes it feel alive and spooky!

More Examples:

🚪 The old door groaned as it slowly swung open. (A door can’t groan, but it makes it feel eerie!)

🌕 The moon watched over them like a silent guardian. (The moon can’t watch, but it adds a mysterious feel.)

🔥 The flames danced wildly in the fireplace. (Fire doesn’t dance, but this makes it more dramatic!)

👉 Bottom line: Personification brings life to non-human things, making descriptions more exciting and emotional!
