Commas are like little pauses in a sentence.
- In Lists: When you have a list, you use commas to separate the items. "I need bread, milk, eggs, and butter."
- After Fronted Adverbials: If you start a sentence with a word or phrase that tells us "when," "where," or "how," you put a comma after it. "In the morning, we play outside."
- Clarify Meaning: "Let's eat, Grandma!" means you are calling Grandma to eat. Without the comma, "Let's eat Grandma!" means something very different!
